Statement on Standards for Attestation Engagements (SSAE) No. 16

Note: Effective June 15, 2011, all reports on controls at service organizations must be performed in accordance with SSAE 16 and/or ISAE 3402, at which point, the current SAS 70 audit standard will no longer be utilized. SSAE 16 assessment reports are also referred to by the AICPA as Service Organization Controls (SOC) 1 reports.

In today's global economy, service organizations and providers must demonstrate that they have adequate controls and safeguards when they host or process data belonging to their customers. Having a third-party assurance of your company’s control policies and procedures sends a message to customers and prospects that they can rely on your company to handle information accurately and securely.

Sikich's SSAE 16 service offerings include:

SOC 1: Type 1 SSAE 16 Assessments
Type 1 SSAE 16 assessment provide independent third party verification by a licensed CPA firm as to whether control activities described by a service organization are suitably designed to meet specified control objectives and whether the controls were placed in operation as of a particular time.

SOC 1: Type 2 SSAE 16 Assessments
Type 2 SSAE 16 assessments provide independent third party verification by a licensed CPA firm as to whether control activities described by a service organization are suitably designed to meet specified control objectives and were in place and operating effectively over a period of time, which is typically six to twelve months in duration.

Sikich has the credentials and the resources needed to perform accurate, complete, timely, and cost-effective SSAE 16 engagements. Our knowledge of the statement and its requirements will benefit you--resulting in a quicker, less disruptive SSAE 16 audit experience.
