The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (as amended by the Health Care and Education Affordability Reconciliation Act) and recently issued implementing regulations (collectively, the "Act")
impose a number of new coverage and reporting mandates on self-insured and fully-insured group health
plans, many of which apply to plan years beginning on or after September 23, 2010 (January 1, 2011 for
calendar year plans). This checklist is designed to guide employer sponsors of group health plans as theyconsider what actions may be needed during the coming weeks and months in order to prepare for timely compliance with the Act's most immediate requirements.
